Durand Bernarr to Receive Soul Personified Honor at the 2026 Soul Train Awards
Grammy-winning artist Durand Bernarr is set to receive the Soul Personified Honor at the 2026 Soul Train Awards.
The singer, songwriter and producer will also perform during the awards and host the event’s digital red carpet show.
The 2026 Soul Train Awards will air Friday, November 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and CBS.
The recognition comes during a big year for Bernarr, who won his first Grammy Award in 2026 for Best Progressive R&B Album for BLOOM. He also recently released his fourth studio album, BERNARR., named in honor of his father, Bernarr Ferebee Sr., a sound engineer.
The album features collaborations with Big Sean, BJ The Chicago Kid, Khalid, Sevyn Streeter and Vic Mensa. It also ranked No. 11 on Billboard’s list of the 50 best albums of 2026 so far.
Bernarr has spent more than 20 years building his career as an independent artist. His sound blends classic soul with contemporary R&B, while his vocal range and individual style have helped him develop a loyal following. His 2023 appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series gained widespread attention, and he has performed to sold-out crowds at Blue Note in Los Angeles and New York. He also joined Kehlani on her world tour.
The Soul Personified Honor recognizes artists who represent the spirit of R&B music. BET’s Connie Orlando, Executive Vice President of Specials, Music Programming and Music Strategy, praised Bernarr for his vocal ability, stage presence and commitment to his artistry.
In addition to his performance and honor, Bernarr will host the Soul Train Awards Red Carpet Show: Back on Track. The digital show will bring together music, fashion and artist appearances, with fans also getting the chance to vote for what they believe is the greatest R&B song of the 2020s.
With his first Grammy win, a new album and this latest recognition, Bernarr continues to make his mark on contemporary R&B while remaining true to his independent roots.
The 2026 Soul Train Awards will air Friday, November 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and CBS.
