Yasmeen Gumbs moves with a rare balance of ambition, grace, and intentional motherhood, building legacy in every space she enters.

Born in Saint Thomas and raised in New York City, her foundation was shaped by island roots and city discipline. A former Division I Track & Field athlete and NCAA Leadership recipient, she went on to earn her Juris Doctor and build a respected career as a litigator, former law firm partner, and business owner.

Still, her most defining role is at home.

Yasmeen co-authored The Princess and Queen Visit Paris with her 12-year-old daughter, a children’s book inspired by their travel experiences across Europe. What began as mother-daughter adventures became a published series centered on imagination, culture, and shared storytelling.

In 2020, she made history as the winner of Mrs. New York America 2020, becoming only the second Black woman in over four decades to hold the title. She later represented New York at Mrs. America 2021, placing Top 15 on a national stage in Las Vegas.

This Mother’s Day, Culture Loft honors Yasmeen Gumbs, Esq., a woman who proves that motherhood does not pause ambition, and ambition does not diminish motherhood. Both can exist fully, beautifully, and powerfully in the same life.
